The PDF format has been a touchy subject of discussion for years. PDF stands for Portable Document Format, a format propagated by Adobe. Although reported to work seamlessly on all platforms, users of the format have found that support isn't complete or standard, even between Macs and PCs.
Complaints aside, the format has a lot of potential. Adobe InDesign allows you to create interactive brochures from your print files: just add a few buttons, embed some Flash or Quicktime, and you're off. It's no wonder magazines such as the Fader are turning to the PDF format to create interactive versions of their product: they are even selling interactive ads to companies such as Helio to augment the print ads they've already placed in the print version. Awesome.
So now here comes PDF Mags. This site aggregates content and links to over 175 free PDF magazines from around the world. It looks like PDFs are finally coming into the own. Check out the site and let me know what you think!
