It's almost here, folks. An idea planted by Nicholas Negroponte of MIT has blossomed into a project that could be instrumental in revitalizing the economies of the Third World. It's a laptop, tentatively called the XO, that has been designed and manufactured to be so inexpensive that virtually every child on the planet could own one. OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) is a non-profit organization that proposes to actually give these laptops away to children in developing countries. The laptop's designer Yves Behar discusses how much planning has gone into this device.
